Our March formal meeting was a rather fantastical affair with Julie Malone of New Writers UK. Julie (writing as Jae Malone) is currently working on her fourth book in The Winterne Series that follows the adventures of a Nottinghamshire lad who uncovers a magical elvish world in caves under the Mendip Hills.
We discussed character creation and the importance of really understanding who your characters are – an important element of any writing, not just fantasy. The part that Julie particularly relishes is the world building, the creation of completely new landscapes, creatures and rules. Fantasy is only limited by your imagination!
