Martin Grey, 2018 ‘Bard of Southwell’ winner comes to Newark

I first met Martin a couple of years ago in a cave under a Nottingham pub.

That’s probably a bit disingenuous of me because it was at the monthly Crosswords spoken word nights held underneath the Malt Cross. Martin is a poet I quickly came to appreciate, building emotional context within his narratives and so I was delighted when he accepted the invitation to judge our latest poetry competition.

The winners of the competition, on the theme of ‘Edge’ will be announced and the top entries, along with a few commended poems, will be read out. Martin will go through what he liked about the entries and will also be bringing along some of his own material.

If you would like to come along to hear some great poetry we’ll be at Knights Court, Balderton Gate between 7 and 9 pm on Thursday 2nd of May.
