After reviewing 47 stunning entries into the 2025 Flash Fiction Competition which, you’ll recall, was set against the word ‘Envelope’, the judge (Anne Howkins) managed to find 5 entries which were slightly more distinguished (by no more than a hair’s breadth), from the other 42 very capable entrants. These 5 entries were separated into the top 3 and two Distinguished.
Before I go any further, I would like to congratulate all 47 entrants. The quality of your writing (and your imagination) was stunning and left me wishing I could Flash as well as you all did. And now to the results…
The two Distinguished entries were:
- First Mail On The Moon (Paul Minguard, Hexham), and
- Some Memories Are Too Big To Fit In An Envelope (Amanda Losinski who wins the local competitor [unplaced] prize)
In 3rd place we have:
- Telekinesis (Ian Walker, Ulceby)
In 2nd place is:
- Valentine (Sandra Jeffrey, Newark)
And in 1st place:
- Children With No Angels (Chisom Winifred, Grimsby)
Our most sincere congratulations go out to all entrants. You rose magnificently to a difficult challenge and you all deserve our thanks and best wishes for your continued writing future.
