Ahhh… the nip of cool air around dawn and dusk, the glut of “first day at school” photos on social media and the horror of trying to get to work after weeks of blissful holiday-time commuting; it can only mean one thing – it’s time for our AGM.
Last year I suggested a rather ambitious collaborative novel, which we not only completed in time for the Newark Book Festival but which actually seems to be quite good – we’re getting some great reviews on Amazon. Four brand new members participated in the project and can now say that they have a book with their name on which is such a great feeling for everyone involved. What about 2020? Well, I have another idea… 😉
Before we get into the detail of reviewing the past 12 months and planning for 2020, there’s also the announcement of the winners of our Flash Fiction Competition and we’ll read out the top six – there were some really good entries which meant the judging was pretty tricky.

We’ll also have a discussion on what kind of writing workshops people would like next year, a statement from Ann on our finances and a proposal on our fees, and the usual dilemma of where to go for our Christmas meal (which, no doubt, will result in us shrugging and then booking somewhere in the last week of November, as usual).
So, a packed programme of competition winners and plans for the coming year. If you’ve always wanted to get into writing then this is the easiest way to do it. Come along and join in – not only is it fun with a friendly, supportive social side, it’ll encourage you to actually write something. And if you’ve already written something, we’ll help you polish it. See you on Thursday 5th, 7 pm at Knights Court, Balderton Gate.
